FIA GT1: Xavier Maassen unlucky

In Brno Xavier Maassen was chased again by bad luck. Despite two brilliant races with his new teammate Mike Hezemans the harvest at the finish line was zero points for the FIA GT1 World Championship.

Qualification, Qualification Race and Championship Race.

The weekend started great for the dutch duo in the iOpener Enabled car with their best times in qualy being good enough for the top 8 positions. Maassen was sitting behind the wheel of the Corvette during qualification and pulled everything out of the U.S. car and stranded on a very strong fifth place. "I drove on the limit and beyond. I have literally used every inch of the track possible", was the conclusion of Xavier after the session had finished.

The first race of the weekend the Qualification Race the drivers continued the pace and finished on a very respectable fifth position. Unfortunately not enough for points as only the top 3 gets points rewarded in this race.

During the main race it looked for a long time that the fifth position could be consolidated or even improved but disaster struck during the forced pitstop after half an hour. A problem while changing the rear tire put an end to a very strong weekend, with a 14th position as a result.

24 Hours of Le Mans 2010

Next stop for Xavier Maassen will be the legendary LM24 race in two weeks from now, where he will drive a Corvette C6.R in the LMGT1 class. More about this event later...

Nobody predicted the outcome of the results correct last Friday. This means that we will give away two beta keys during the next competition.
