All good things must come to an end
After a successful year of testing the iOpener Enabled technology, the official beta test period of "Real-Time Racing" has come to an end.
Groundbreaking race game experience
In September 2009 iOpener, in cooperation with Swedish game developer SimBin Studios, released the iOpener Enabled Real-Time Racing game to our first batch of beta testers. During the year that followed we organized several ground breaking events on our first iOpener Enabled test track Circuit Zolder in Belgium.
This past year we made it possible for ten thousands of enthusiastic gamers from all over the world to race in real-time against real drivers on real tracks from the comfort of their own home. We have now reached the final stage of the beta programme, and there will be no more live events until the next iOpener Enabled game is released.
Memorable events
Highlights of the beta test were the official FIA race events: the FIA GT World Championship race in September 2009 and the FIA World Touring Car Championship in June 2010. Here thousands of gamers were given the opportunity to race live against the Matech Ford GT of Bas Leinders and Renaud Kuppens and challenge touring car world champion Gabriele Tarquini and his SEAT Sport team mate Tom Coronel in their Seat Leon TDIs.
Great feedback
Each event helped us to further test the iOpener Enabled technology and understand gamers and race fans expectations better. We are thankful to each and everyone of you, who supported us and gave us valuable feedback, and even visited us many times at Zolder! It has been a great time, and we are looking forward to racing more with you in the coming years!
Simply ended but not closed, so stay tuned!
RTR will remain available, so that gamers and race fans will still be able to play the stored iOpener Enabled races, by completing the usual registration process (Click here). Access codes will be sent monthly so that newcomers can download the game and try the stored races.
As the focus of the whole team will now shift to the future iOpener Enabled game, there will be no maintenance nor updates done to the current RTR website.
For future updates please stay tuned at the news.
