Most two-wheeler manufacturing companies around the world are gradually moving towards electric energy. While the infrastructure in India is conducive, it is still far from being ideal for electric scooters to become favored over regular bikes. These eco-friendly vehicles while expensive; you can bring one home easily with a two wheeler loan that is readily available these days.
Here’s a quick look at some electric scooters available in India that are making waves and are an ideal alternative to the fuel-powered ones:
Powered by a brushless DC motor, the Okinawa Praise is offered with either a lead-acid battery or a lithium-ion one. While the former takes 6-8 hours for a full charge, the latter can be charged within an hour. A single charge can last for about 170 km to 200 km.
The scooter gets three riding modes – economy (35 kmph), sport (60kmph) and turbo (75 kmph). The lead-acid and lithium-ion trims of Praise cost Rs 74,880 and Rs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
The Photon comes with two motors as well – a 1.2 kW unit and a 1.8 kW unit. With a 72V battery pack, it has a range of 80-110 km (depending on modes) on a single charge with a top speed of 45 kmph. It will take you four hours for a complete charge of the battery.
